We are blessed to be in an agricultural wonderland, and while we sufffer the continual loss of rural land to the suburban wastes, we still have an abundance of local organic farms, wineries, breweries, bakeries, vegetarian restaurants and more. As always, I will focus on local first and then move outward to the Bay but still mostely within a 100 miles.

Ann's Orchard: "Nestled away in one of the last natural areas of Placer County, our CCOF certified organic produce grows with fresh water, air and lots of personal attention.
Apple Hill
A.V. Thomas Produce "grows, packs and ships fresh conventional and certified organic sweet potatoes and yams year 'round. We are a farm direct wholesale sweet potato and yam produce supplier."
Bierwagen's Donner Trail Fruit "is an old fashioned family-owned and operated fruit ranch, located in the small community of Chicago Park in the Sierra Foothills of Nevada County."
Boa Vista Orchards "is a family owned farm, going on it's fourth generation. We are located in the heart of the Apple Hill area. The Gold Discovery area of Coloma is located just down the road, and Lake Tahoe is just an hour up Hwy 50."
Bloom Ranch: The "ranch is located in western Yolo county, California where the growing conditions are ideal for walnuts and almonds. "
Bodhaine Ranch (Organic): "Visit our Ranch for fresh-baked delights in Apple Hill, or order our popular Frozen Pies. We have a well equipped commercial kitchen, spacious dinning room and outdoor picnic area for your family to enjoy."
Cache Creek Nursery & Farm "includes the nursery where we grow a wide variety of California native plants, exotic ornamentals, drought-tolerant species selected to do well in our warm northern California climate, and a vast array of organically grown herb and vegetable plants, the 5 acre organic orange grove, and the organic vegetable farm, currently managed by Quetzal Farm of Sebastopol."
California Country Ranch Kiwifruit: "Our main crop is delicious, sweet kiwifruit, which we harvest in early November when the sugar has reached its peak."
Capay Fruits & Vegetables is a second generation organic farm secluded in the Coastal Range’s Capay Valley 90 miles northeast of San Francisco.
Dixon Ridge Farms , "we grow, buy, and process California organic walnuts. Established in 1979, we are proud to continue a century-long tradition of family farming. We feel good about the way we grow our walnuts and the way we treat the Earth."
Earth Bound Farm: "Our mission is to bring the benefits of organic food to as many people as possible and serve as a catalyst for positive change."

Carmel
Valley

Full Belly Farm "has used organic practices since 1985 and is certified by California Certified Organic Farmers. The farm produces an amazing diversity of vegetables, herbs, nuts, flowers, and fruits year-round."
FreeHeart Farm "covers 37 acres in the lovely Lamb Valley. The Farm is located near Esparto, California which is the gateway to the Capay Valley Region. Each year in February the region celebrates the Almond Festival with music, food and craft sales throughout the Valley."
Fresh off the Vine "is a family owned and operated agri-business nestled amongst tall trees and grape vines outside the historic city of Hanford, CA. Dedicated to wholesome and sustainable farming practices, we specialize in CCOF certified organic vine-ripened & hand-harvested tomatoes."

S & J Mandarin Grove "was started in April 2001 by Steve and June Bourn on five acres of the quiet Newcastle countryside in Placer County, California. Placer County is known for its quality produce. The warm days, cool nights, and decomposed granite soil make it an excellent location to grow sweet, seedless, Owari Satsuma mandarin oranges."
Terra Firma Farm "has been growing CCOF (California Certified Organic Farmers) vegetables for over ten years. CCOF is the highest organic standard, and of course nothing we sell has been genetically altered."
West Valley Alpacas is a full-service, hands-on ranch in northern California near Sacramento. We breed and sell fine alpacas in black, gray, white, pinto and other beautiful colors. We sell alpaca yarn, fiber and clothing, and knitting, weaving and spinning tools and supplies in our Ranch Store.
